The Lovely Bones [2009]

I felt so depressed after watching this movie.  It is so sad!  I also felt frustrated because I don't find any justice in it.  How come the bad person can escape the law and justice.  Sure, karma will get him but I felt the pain of the family who lost.  Despite all those, there is an optimistism in the persona.  Although she is dead but she didn't hold any hatred about life and wishing her family will move on, be safe and happy.  It is true in the end all of us have to die.  It is just a matter of sooner or later.

The Lovely Bones directed by Peter Jackson tells a story about a 14-year-old girl from suburban Pennsylvania who is murdered by her neighbor. She tells the story from Heaven, showing the lives of the people around her and how they have changed all while attempting to get someone to find her lost body.

Interview With The Vampire [1994]

I have to praise this movie, great storyline and not to mention all the big stars like Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Antonia Banderas and Kirsten Dunst.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles is a 1994 film, based on the 1976 novel Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice.  Vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac has decided to tell his story to writer Daniel Malloy how he became a vampire in 1791 at the age of 24 and what it's been like living for 200 years.  The film was directed by Neil Jordan, and stars Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Antonio Banderas, and Kirsten Dunst. It was a box office hit, generating a little over $100 million in domestic receipts.

Couples Retreat [2009]

I was looking forward to watch this movie.  There has been so much fuss about this movie and my friends actually go to Bora Bora for their honeymoon.  I think it was because of this movie.  I was sort of disappointed in the movie somehow because the setting of the beginning is a bit too long.  It is not what I was looking forward to.  But it's still a good movie about relationships and how to maintain a healthy family.

Couples Reatreat directed by Peter Billingsley is a comedy centered around four couples who settle into a tropical-island resort for a vacation. While one of the couples is there to work on the marriage, the others fail to realize that participation in the resort's therapy sessions is not optional.

It's Complicated [2009]

The name Meryl Streep was introduced to me from The Devil Wears Prada.  I think she's one of the most talented actress and for her age I have to give my thumbs up.  Her roles from each movies show the diverse talent he has.

It's Complicated directed by Nancy Meyers is fun and very entertaining.  However, it's probably not one of my favourite.  I would like to see Steve Martin more in this movie though :)

During his son's college graduation, Jane hooks up with her ex-husband, Jake, who's married to a younger woman.  When brought together at a family event, two exes find themselves oddly attracted to each other after ten years of divorce.  Although the couple think that this affair will stay in a different state, it brings itself back to their own city and disrupts their personal lives. While the couple still maintain other romances, they cannot help but to continue with their affair.  As if being your ex's mistress isn't tough enough, Jane also finds herself drawn to Adam, a smitten architect.

Julie & Julia [2009]

This movie is the reason why I start blogging.  Julie & Julia directed by Nora Ephron was a bit hard to grasp the concept and the changing scenes between the two era of two women.  I didn't realise that it was a shift in time until 1/3 of the movie.  Maybe I'm a bit slow.

I have to admit Meryl Streep is a great actress, I have seen quite a few of her movies and each character she portrayed at totally different from each other and her acting was so great.  She really deserves her title.

Julia Child and Julie Powell - both of whom wrote memoirs - find their lives intertwined. Though separated by time and space, both women are at loose ends... until they discover that with the right combination of passion, fearlessness and butter, anything is possible.

The Proposal [2009]

Sandra Bullock, what can you say about her? She's a wonderful woman and all her movies according to me are great!

The Proposal directed by Anne Fletcher is one of a kind.  The comedy is great, the scenes are beautiful and the romance, soft and sweet.  I would never want to miss watching this.

In New York, Margaret Tate is a successful self-made chief-editor of the Ruick & Hunt Publishing and loathed by her coworkers. Margaret lost her parents when she was sixteen and is tough with the employees of the office. Her executive assistant and aspirant editor Andrew Paxton has been working with her for three years without any recognition. When Margaret has problems with the immigration due to an expired visa and is threatened with deportation, she blackmails Andrew to agree to marry her. In return, he would be promoted to editor and she would publish his book. Meanwhile, the skeptical clerk of the immigration department Mr. Gilbertson schedules an interview with Margaret and Andrew after the weekend. The couple travels to Sitka, Alaska, to celebrate the ninetieth birthday of Andrew's grandmother and Margaret is welcomed by his warming family. Over the weekend, she grows closer to Andrew's family who ask her to marry Andrew in their barn, a family tradition in the Paxton family. And the tension increases when Mr. Gilbertson appears out of the blue in Sitka promising to charge Andrew for fraud.

Centre Stage: Turn It Up [2008]

Dance movies are one of my favourites.  Centre Stage: Turn It Up directed by Steven Jacobson is the sequel to Centre Stage (2000).  Although the story line does not link to the first movie it very much revolves around ballet academy.

Compare to the first movie, I think the sequel has a great plot.  It truly shows you have to work hard to be where you want to be.  A fabulous movie with great music and cool dance moves.

All self-taught dancer Kate Parker has ever wanted to do was perform with the American Academy of Ballet. But when she doesnt make it after auditioning, she learns that it takes more than precision and perfection to succeed in the dance world. 17 Again [2009]

I have always like Zac Efron from High School Musical and when I found the movie 17 Again directed by Burr Steers, I grabbed it straightaway.  This movie is so unexpected because Zac is totally in a different character, which helps to cut him out of the High School Musical image.  In addition, the role he was casted, being 17 but act and think like a mature adult, I have to say he's amazing.  There is so much potential and opportunities for him in the future.

In 1989, the teenager Mike O'Donnell is the star of the Hayden High-School. On the day of the final basketball game, Mike will be observed and may win a scholarship in college. However, his girlfriend Scarlett tells him that she is pregnant and Mike does not play the game. Twenty years later, Mike is a complete loser that blames Scar for his failures: he is not promoted to sale manager after working sixteen years in the same company; Scarlett is divorcing him; his teenagers son Alex and daughter Maggie hate him; and he is temporarily living with his best friend, the eccentric and immature millionaire Ned Gold. Mike nostalgically visits Hayden where an old janitor talks to him about second chance in life. During the night, he sees the janitor jumping from a bridge into the river and he unsuccessfully tries to help the man. Mike passes out and when he wakes up, he discovers that he is seventeen again. Further, he discovers that he has a second chance to fix his relationship with his family.
